Badger’s Big News

So the bf is no longer the bf any longer he is now the fiancé. Being the un-romantic kind he took me and one of my nieces to a local mall told me I had a budget and to choose a ring. I found one, he bought it and I am now an engaged badger.

So I guess you can say that I have added a little more anxiety to the picture as I know have a wedding to arrange though when that will be I have no idea. If I had the money I would want as soon as possible but money is going to be the problem. I have debt on top of debt at the moment and the fiancé no longer has a job as he quit it due to personality clashes and the stress that the job had been bringing him. He also has no idea what he wants to do next and knowing him as I do he will take his time and be lazy about it too.

I guess the other big news is that my sister no longer lives with me. After another stint in hospital she has been released and has got a place of her own or she may be living with people she knows. We are not sure which one as she hasn’t really told us anything. She took her dog and then returned him and says that she is going to collect her stuff. She has also broken into the house twice.

My mother is no longer speaking to my youngest brother due to his wife in one of her fights where her opponent has no idea that they are fighting. Though admittedly he is not making an effort to talk to her so maybe he is more aware than we know. He usually calls her once a week and hasn’t since the dispute occurred. She though does have a good reason for her anger at my brother and sister-in-law.

State of Origin starts tonight and for the first time in a long time it seems that I will have to watch the match. I really don’t want to watch as I was going to start my yearly watch of Cowboy Bebop tonight but the fiancé is coming over to watch the match as he is unable to as he can’t get a signal where he is at the moment. He really needs to move in and with my sister gone he can though I guess with him being unemployed….

Badger, It’s Been A While

I feel like breaking into song and singing a little Staind at the moment but this is not really the time or even the place. I doubt that anyone would appreciate me breaking into song. I am not Kevin Smith after all (he always sings it when he says the phrase).

Still having inspiration and concentration issues. Started seeing my psychologist again and she has suggested that I defer on the study until I can calm done. Have done a little bit of travelling over the last month in which the thought of flying really started stressing me out which has never happened before as I have been mentioned in a previous post that I love flying. Saw my father for the first time in 27 years while on said travel which was really emotional as he is not a well man (suffers from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s). The second lot of travel took me up to a cyclone affected area of North Queensland to do a little recovery work where strangely my anxiety decided to play nice for all but one day and that was due to my dislike of confrontation. We also had a really good EAP (Employee Assistance Program) rep available.

Sister was in hospital again but is now out and being a pain in ass. She wants my bed because I have a better mattress and naturally I don’t want to give it up because it is my bed. Booked a cruise for next year for my bf’s 50th. Since he doesn’t like boats it is going to be interesting. Family are planning on selling the family home due to the fact that my stepfather and my mother have split. Might finally get the money that he owes me.

Want to get a semicolon tattoo either behind my one of my ears or on the same wrist as my Harley’s Diamonds tattoo. Also want get a Wonder Woman tattoo on the opposing wrist before the movie comes out. BTW the trailers are awesome and so it the Justice League ones. Speaking of DC properties been reading a lot of comic books lately due to the travel and a podcast that I listen to. If you like DC comics and don’t mind long podcasts and I mean 10 to 12 hour long podcasts listen to Weird Science DC. They are really insightful and review every DC related comic weekly. They also treat their listeners well are very funny.

Though this is my first in while on this blog I have put up a few posts on my review blog in which I have put up reviews for the following:

Ready Player One (Book)

Riverdale (TV)

Assassination Classroom (Anime)

Cowboy Bebop (Anime)

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Movie)

Logan (Movie)

Traumatic Badger

I have already spoken about my accident in another post and I got another doctor’s opinion in regards to it and his diagnosis was the same as my regular doc so pretty much I have to live with having a constant headache and accompanying neck pain. He did though recommend that I get my thyroid checked and have a sleep test done because I am also constantly tired though I sleeping well. He also suggested that I suffered from or am still suffering from PTSD due to the accident.

I never once thought this but now that he outlined it is probably correct. I still get nervous when a car I am in and I am a front seat passenger speeds up or when they go through a yellow light, especially when they had time to stop. I don’t like having trucks or bigger cars close beside me either. None of these were a contribution to my accident but my anxiety levels rise in these occasions.

It is that time of year again, it is State of Origin time and as I mentioned in a previous post I no longer watch the spectacle that is Mate vs Mate, State vs State. I used to love it look forward to it and my stop watching it has nothing to do with the fact that the team that I go for, The NSW Blues, have only won the series once in the last 10 years. My not watching any longer has to with an ex-boyfriend and one of the best players for the Queensland Maroons, Jonathan Thurston.

Straight off the bat my ex was a drinker with a temper and was extremely jealous. There was nothing he liked better than starting a fight and he openly boasted about the fights that he had been in. His drink of choice was rum and rum and a temper and jealousy do no mix well at all. I had gone over to his house to watch the game which is on a Wednesday night and was naturally going to stay the night there as he lived on the other side of town. His roommate, his girlfriend and another friend were also there.

My ex spent most of the game in the backyard drinking with the friend and his roommate, the girlfriend and I watched the game. They would pop in every now and again to check the score or when something exciting happened. Every time he would pop in he would take pot shots at Jonathan Thurston because he was getting a lot of attention in the media at the time, and he still is to a certain extent, mainly because he is a great player and is pretty consistent. He had not watched the game and I was getting annoyed with him because of the remarks he was making so despite going for the opposition I defended him.

Stupid, Stupid Badger

My defence of this Queenslander and the fact that I had seen him at the airport once when I had gone to Sydney for a Harry Potter release party and had mentioned it to him when I got off the plane had my ex putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 1000. He claimed that I was in love with him. I was of course not, I was actually not in the least attracted to him in any shape or form and I think at the time said he looked like a monkey (I did not mean that in a racist manner at all).

He kept taking his pot shots at me and Jonathan Thurston and I kept on defending him with some assistance from the roommate and the gf. When the game finished, the Blues won btw, I went to bed. The ex followed and continued to take pot shots and called me a liar. I got angrier and angrier and threatened to punch him, he goaded me and I did end up punching him in the face. Unfortunately I had a silver with blue topaz ring on which had sharp corners, when I connected the ring scratched him and he got angrier and started beating my head against the headboard.

It was too late to go home that night and he took me to the bus stop the next morning for work and as I had training that day and I promised him that I would go over to his place the next day which was Friday for the weekend. I was a wreck and on Friday morning he kept calling me and calling me and eventually a colleague of my took me aside into one of the conference rooms. I told her what happened and she called in the boss they took photos of the bruises with my phone and sent me home. I broke my promise, which he didn’t like cause I don’t like breaking promises and he knew that, I considered my situation and how our relationship had been. Hell, even his sister-in-law had offered to assist in getting me away from him at once stage. On Monday I called him and broke it off. I did not ever want to put myself in the that position again over something as stupid as a football player.

So I know how a new tradition at Origin time I watch anime and not just any anime my favourite anime of all time.   Cowboy Bebop

Radical Badger

Instead  my Otaku Badger post I mentioned that my favourite anime of all time is Cowboy Bebop and today I thought I would talk a little bit about this anime in particular because I am channelling Ed a little from the show a little today with maybe a little bit of Asura the kishin from Soul Eater thrown in. Basically my anxiety is playing up big time due to work issues and the possibility that I may put in the middle of word war between two of my colleagues. Also my computer at home is not working and I didn’t walk the dogs today because I woke up late and that means I broke a promise to them, not that they would understand that but still I feel bad.

Now Cowboy Bebop is set in the future, 2071 to be exact, space travel is possible and most of humanity no longer lives on earth as it has become uninhabitable due to a hyperspace gate blow up. We follow Jet Black, a former cop, and Spike Spiegel, a former crime syndicate member, as they travel on a former space trawler called the Bebop. They are bounty hunters or cowboys, as they are nicknamed, as they eke out a living. Along the way they acquire a dog, a Welsh Corgi which they call Ein, a former bounty head called Faye who was cryogenically frozen who is trying to find out who she is because has very little memories and is also a con woman, problem gambler and is very vain and selfish.

Then there is Ed. Ed is actually a girl who has given herself the name Edward Wang Hwe Pepel Cybulski 4th. She is a whiz kid and hacker and is known on earth as Radical Edward. The crew come into contact with her when they chase a large bounty as someone has been making large doodles into the earth and it is believed that someone, they think Ed, has hacked a satellite to do this. She hadn’t but Faye promises her that if she helps them find who did do it then they will let her come with them. Faye of course never meant to keep her promise but Ed hacks them and come on their adventures until she with Ein decides to leave near the end of the series.

Ed is a strange kid who refers to herself in the third person, very rarely walks, uses her feet for unusual tasks such as typing and clapping and what I am like today easily distracted. She is also the one that bring the humor to the show. She is also one of the most enjoyable parts of the show in my opinion.

I might talk a little bit about the show in a later post and go over some of the other characters.

Otaku Badger?

Yes, I know Otaku is a Japanese term for geek and essentially it means I and so I a naming this post the same as my previous post but I like to think that Otaku is a little more selective than your run of the mill geek as it their likes are more related to their own cultural fandoms rather than a wider pop culture they admittedly they do intermingle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otaku

I wouldn’t even say that I am full on Otaku either but I do enjoy anime a lot and I have read some manga. I mentioned in my last post that it was my involvement in Godrics Hollow that lead me to my current enjoyment of anime. Of course I had watched anime before when I was young not realising that it was anime at the time. You know titles like Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion and Voltron, before or after school television on the ABC when I was growing up.

Godrics Hollow had a member who used an anime character as her character image for her avatar and signature and I was interested in where it was from so I asked her. It was Julia from Cowboy Bebop. She recommended the show thinking that I would like it. Like it I did and Cowboy Bebop is probably my favourite anime of all time.

From then I would the shelves at the closest Borders to find and buy anime. Streaming was not available in Australia at the time and I then found a DVD hire deliver service called Quickflix and would borrow titles from them and would buy the ones that I enjoyed and would watch again. I stopped using Quickflix but continued to buy titles I found interesting. I also got my niece into as well and it would our thing to do together. That leads me to our show at the moment….Fairy Tail

6877989-fairy-tail-wallpaper

I buy the DVD when they are released but we watch it through a streaming service here in Australia called Animelab which is run by one of the main distributors of anime in Australia, Madman. The service is free but you can pay for premium content, which I do. They offer anime in sub and dub versions and have most of Fairy Tail in the dubbed variety which is easier for my niece. It is simulcast as well which means a new episode a week so I am all caught up on the story though my niece isn’t.

I might go into a Fairy Tail and talk about other titles I enjoy at a later time and maybe make some recommendations but I think that that is all for now.
