Zombie Badger

12:22 PM

The last couple of days I have felt like I am a zombie or something. It is not that I suddenly have a hankering for brains or anything like that but I feel like I am sleepwalking to a certain extent. It all started with a stye on my left eye and I have always considered my left eye to be the weaker one due to my car accident. The stye arrived on Tuesday of last week, see I told you Tuesdays were bad, and ever since Friday my vision in the left eye has be blurry to the extent that I spend some of the day with that eye closed. It is even worse at work because of the lights and looking at a screen all day and makes my headaches and anxiety even worse.

Sunday was particularly bad so much so that even my stepfather remarked that I did not look well. I looked like I had not slept, I had a puffy red eye and my head was pounding. I also felt like I could not focus on anything and I don’t mean mentally, I mean visually. I just wanted to sleep all day but it was my nieces weekend and my mother had invited a friend over to Sunday lunch plus the BF was there.

Well the doctor’s visit helped with the anxiety to a certain extent though I am still tired all the time and my headaches are not any better. My eyes just get so heavy, especially at work, and I am also beginning to sleep in which is something I have never been able to do. No matter how much caffeine and other pick me ups I have it doesn’t make any difference.

I have to say though with the excess sleepiness and maybe even the change in medication I seem to be dreaming rather vividly though admittedly I am not really remembering much of them only that they are clear when I am dreaming them. Like for instance last week I had a dream and a dream that I am pretty I have had before as I seemed to recall it while I was dreaming it. I know there were characters in it from books and movies that I have seen and I know that if I could remember the dream the premise behind it would make a really good story to write.

I am pretty sure that Snow White and Charming were in it and so were Marvel characters like Captain America and Iron Man and I have a feeling that they were not the characters names as such but more of a title that was inherited by a normal person. I also get the feeling that the most recent people to inherit these titles were not good people and up to the people who had inherited their nemeses titles to stop them as they were now good. I don’t think it makes much sense but I think that was the dream. Maybe my fandoms are getting muddled and are now just popping up in my dreams because I think the Winchesters were in it too. I have dreamed of them before also.

Another dream that I had was that me and my BF bought a house though it was in a place that we were not even considering buying. It was a really good price and it was by the seas and pretty much every room that we were in we could see the ocean. We were however considering knocking it down and building the house that we actually want which we have found.

I have also found the ring I want for my engagement ring, now I just have to wait to be asked….

Busy Badger

It is has been a hectic couple of weeks that has been the main reason why I have not posted a lot.

First of my family is back from Hong Kong and my week without them was interesting to say the least. I did not do as planned and watch Supernatural or Flash live due to tiredness and the fact that I totally forgot that we had dinner plans arranged for the night that the Flash aired. I did however watch Arrow live so ‘Yah’.

My anxiety also flared up mightily on the Wednesday so much so that I felt like I was going to have a panic attack while walking my dogs on the Thursday and forced me to have a day off on Friday so that I can go and see my doctor and once again be prescribed medication for it. It is has helped a lot though since being back on it.

My sister behaved herself while they were away and went on a baking spree. She had also decided to give up smoking and went and saw a doctor about it and got medication for it but has yet to fill the prescription for it and so is still begging for money and smokes. She also has to look for jobs and decided that she wants to be a chef. With no tech looking for work is not going to be easy for her which means that is asking to use everyone else’s and that is annoying.

This week has been a busy week in general in relation to work. I have had very little time to think or take a breather. This morning is the only real time that I have been able to breathe a little but once it hits 10 that will end I will be nose to the grindstone once more.

My mother walks the dogs every morning except Tuesdays because she starts work early on that day and I have agreed to walk the dogs on that day for her and then accompany her every second Saturday and Sunday when we don’t have the girls. When we do have them I have to keep an eye on the youngest who is an early riser. Every other day I will go to the gym because I have a membership and have not been able to use it due to timing and the season.

This weekend is supposed to be a scorcher and I am not looking forward to it. I do have an appointment with my psychologist tomorrow in which my BF will also be attending but other than that I have nothing planned, not that I like making plans. I want to go swimming but can’t due to issues. I also would love to binge watch Jessica Jones this weekend but doubt that that is going to happen.

I am really hoping that things settle down a little in the lead up to Christmas.

Super Badger

I have threatened in my previous posts that I will do a post on DC and my preferences to the characters from these comics opposed to those in Marvel. Today is that day I believe and this week I have the rare opportunity to be able to watch Arrow and the Flash TV shows live instead of waiting for the iTunes availability that usually comes on the Friday after the airing (The Flash airs on Wednesday and Arrow on Thursday here) but sometimes it can take up to the Sunday.

The reason I have this mighty ability this week is because of the fact that my stepfather is away and thus does not have control of the remote control. My sister has no care of what I watch in the evening and I am not going to care what my BF wants. Hell I might even be able to watch Supernatural live tonight instead of tomorrow when it appears on the station stream tomorrow. That will all depend on other factors like me being able to get a good version of Once Upon A Time (unfortunately I have to torrent this one as the station that has the rights to this show are not treating it’s Aussie fans well and has not even aired the 4th season of the show) and what time my BF will be getting home tonight as he is going to visit his brother after work.

Well back to DC and why there characters are more preferable to me than Marvel. To be honest I am really not sure why. I guess I feel more invested in the DC characters than the Marvel ones. I like the X-Men characters very much and I grew up watching X-Men cartoons and my brother used to read X-Men comics. I only really saw the Batman 1960’s TV and the movies from the 80’s and 90’s and Superman from the 80’s. I loved the early X-Men movies as well. It has only been in the last 5 to 10 years that I have really come to appreciate and love DC and in particular Batman and think that is partially because of Kevin Smith.

His love of Batman got me interested in Batman and the character somehow resonates with me. I just think that he is believable and that he could really be a real person unlike other Superheroes that we see. The same goes for Green Arrow in a sense. I think it is the morality of the DC heroes that I appreciate as I think in someone ways Marvel Heroes are a little more selfish. I am probably one of the few that absolutely can’t stand Spiderman and don’t actually see the appeal or the fuss that is made about the character.

I am not the biggest of Superman fans and I never watched Smallville (though my BF did and he wants me to watch it) but I did watch Lois and Clark (Dean Cain was/is hot!!). I am, however, enjoying the Supergirl show, another show I have to torrent because it is not available here yet and I probably won’t be able to watch live though I will buy it on iTunes if it becomes available. I really don’t get the hate levelled at Aquaman as I think he has more going for him in terms of powers than some others do and his Marvel equivalent is probably Thor and he doesn’t get the hate. I also loved the Justice League cartoon movie Throne of Atlantis and Jason Momoa looks awesome as Aquaman in the upcoming movie/s.

I haven’t seen all that much of him other than a couple of the DC cartoon movies released but I am really liking Cyborg as well, yes I know he is in Teen Titans but I haven’t seen a lot of that yet as it has not become available on iTunes, DVD or any of the streaming services, but his character in the movies is very good. I am also gaining a great liking to Wonder Woman as well and not just because she is a female superhero. I also like the Greek mythos behind her because I am part Greek myself and Greek myths has always interested me (Percy Jackson, anyone).

I think that I will it at that for now but I reserve the right to revisit and talk more of my love of Batman in particular and also DC villains and in particular Joker and Harley Quinn.

Spooky Badger

Since I am not sure if I will be posting again before Halloween on Saturday I thought I would use this post to celebrate the holiday and spooky things.

In Australia Halloween isn’t really celebrated though admittedly it is growing in popularity. I do remember however when growing up in Melbourne that we did go Trick or Treating but when we moved to Sydney it wasn’t a done thing. Now I live in Brisbane and we have never had kids come to our door asking for treats though we always have something set out just in case.

This year I will attending at Halloween party thrown by my younger brother. It looks like it is going to be a big do, all up. They just bought the house earlier this year so it is also a house warming party as such. I will probably just wear my Harry Potter robes and carry one of the wands that I own as a costume though it is not compulsory to wear a costume.

I am not a fan of spooky/horror movies at all I have seen a couple in my life time which I have willingly and unwillingly watched. Strangely enough I do like to read about them on Wikipedia and read reviews for them as well. I have probably seem more anime and TV with horror themes than actual movies. Some of the anime that I have watched in full or seen episodes off just as a test to see if I will watch the whole thing are:

Black Blood Brothers

Ghost Hound

Ghost Hunt

Hellsing

High School of the Dead – Watched most of it but didn’t like it all that much due to the women all having big boobs

Paranoia Agent

Blue Exorcist – Both the series and the movie

Blood: the Last Vampire and Blood+

Vampire Hunter D

Tokyo Ghoul – I have watched a couple of eps of this and might go back to it

Deadman Wonderland – I have watched a couple of eps of this and might go back to it

Future Diary – I have watched a couple of eps of this and might go back to it

Supernatural: The Anime Series

With that last one I am I guess I should include Supernatural the TV show as one of the horror related programs that I have watched. I am up to date with the show though the most recent episode I haven’t seen yet as it has not aired here and won’t until Monday. I like the show and own the whole series on iTunes and have a version all the Pop Vinyl characters. Sam and Dean guard my desk at work along with Darryl Dixon from the Walking Dead, which I will get to later. I also have Castiel, Crowley and Charlie at home. I also listen to a re-watch podcast for them that I should have mentioned yesterday but forgot. It is called Supernatural: The Road So far and is hosted by two girls Sam and Malik though Sam used to host with a guy named Matt who had to leave though he comes and hosts every now and again. They have a great Facebook group as well.

Now The Walking Dead… Look I am really not that into zombies, though I do love iZombie which I guess we can add in a way to the list but that has a lot little more humour in it than Supernatural and definitely more than The Walking Dead. I have not seen all of the show. I got through season 4 and then lost interest but at one stage, especially in the first couple of seasons I was really into it and remember having this aha moment after Shane died in relation to the disease but sort of forgot about it. Might have to re-watch the first two seasons again to see if I can get that moment back and work on a proper theory. I just need to find the time…

Other horror themed shows that I have watched in full or not are:

Constantine

Grimm

The X-Files

Twin Peaks

Fringe
