Decisive Badger

I have many faults, I will never ever say that I am perfect because in my mind perfection equals normality and I would never ever want to be called normal. So I cannot be called perfect though I do have perfectionist streak at times, but that is the Virgo in me. I can be lazy and procrastinate a lot and I am absolutely terrible when it comes to money and making decisions when it comes to money. I am probably more selfish than I would like to be also and I am struggling with this quite a bit at the moment but this is probably my anxiety, which I guess is another reason why I am not perfect/normal.

One thing that I am and that has been pointed out and something that I am kind of proud of is that I am decisive. If I say that I am going to do something I will do it though I will think on it for a while before I act. Two things I did over the weekend prove this.

I have stated that I wanted to get a Wonder Woman tattoo and wanted to do it before the movie comes out. I decided this a couple of months after getting my Harley Quinn diamonds tattoo because I did debate on getting a Joker J tattoo. I decided to go with a more feminist bent instead. So I now I had Harley on left wrist/forearm and Wonder Woman on my right. My good and bad sides. I guess this is the selfish decision that I made over the weekend.

The second one is something that is a little selfish I guess because it was for me but it was also for my family and will kick off, hopefully, the renovation of the house for its possible sale. I got my room painted. It was something that I had considered for over a year and me and the bf had gone to Bunnings (a hardware chain here in Australia) a couple of time and got colour swatches. I made a decision to do it two weekends ago and after consultation with family members a colour was decided upon.

We got the paint and other utensils to complete the job on Friday with the intent on doing it over the weekend as it was a long one due to Labour Day. Saturday I was in a lazy mood so me and the bf decided on Sunday as the day with touch ups on Monday if required. Sunday I cleared out the room before my bf arrived as he told me to have it done bright an early and then turned up later than I thought he would, though that is quite typical because as my mother said there was work to be done so naturally he was lazy. He helped move the items of furniture that needed to be moved out and moved the bed to the middle of the room. It was the only piece of furniture that could not be moved.

Myself and he then painted the room with assistance from my 9 year old niece and my sister’s sometime boyfriend. My niece helped as way of distracting her as her guinea pig died the night before and the sometimes boyfriend offered and said that he knew what he was doing though probably didn’t or was too distracted by my sister. He was planning on using the remainder of the paint to do my sisters room though to do that she will need to clean it and that it a challenge in itself.

My room though looks great and I am pleased with the outcome though we will still need to paint the trims and doors as they are still the original creamy colour they were before and that colour really doesn’t work well with the new colour of the walls.

Badger, It’s Been A While

I feel like breaking into song and singing a little Staind at the moment but this is not really the time or even the place. I doubt that anyone would appreciate me breaking into song. I am not Kevin Smith after all (he always sings it when he says the phrase).

Still having inspiration and concentration issues. Started seeing my psychologist again and she has suggested that I defer on the study until I can calm done. Have done a little bit of travelling over the last month in which the thought of flying really started stressing me out which has never happened before as I have been mentioned in a previous post that I love flying. Saw my father for the first time in 27 years while on said travel which was really emotional as he is not a well man (suffers from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s). The second lot of travel took me up to a cyclone affected area of North Queensland to do a little recovery work where strangely my anxiety decided to play nice for all but one day and that was due to my dislike of confrontation. We also had a really good EAP (Employee Assistance Program) rep available.

Sister was in hospital again but is now out and being a pain in ass. She wants my bed because I have a better mattress and naturally I don’t want to give it up because it is my bed. Booked a cruise for next year for my bf’s 50th. Since he doesn’t like boats it is going to be interesting. Family are planning on selling the family home due to the fact that my stepfather and my mother have split. Might finally get the money that he owes me.

Want to get a semicolon tattoo either behind my one of my ears or on the same wrist as my Harley’s Diamonds tattoo. Also want get a Wonder Woman tattoo on the opposing wrist before the movie comes out. BTW the trailers are awesome and so it the Justice League ones. Speaking of DC properties been reading a lot of comic books lately due to the travel and a podcast that I listen to. If you like DC comics and don’t mind long podcasts and I mean 10 to 12 hour long podcasts listen to Weird Science DC. They are really insightful and review every DC related comic weekly. They also treat their listeners well are very funny.

Though this is my first in while on this blog I have put up a few posts on my review blog in which I have put up reviews for the following:

Ready Player One (Book)

Riverdale (TV)

Assassination Classroom (Anime)

Cowboy Bebop (Anime)

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Movie)

Logan (Movie)

Badger On A DC Binge

I guess it is not a binge in the traditional sense but whenever I have time these days I am usually reading or watching something DC related. The only times that I have not done this have been when I decided to rewatch what I have of the Magicians (see my review of the show so far) and when I went over to the “dark side” and watched Deadpool with my bf and also read one of the comics. To be honest I didn’t find the comic all that smart or funny like many people have said they are and to me he just came off as insane.

Well any who back to my binge.

I think what has started this binge is the most recent DC reboot which is being called Rebirth. First off I am not the biggest comic book reader and though I do own a few selected titles (Flashpoint Paradox and a few of the Kevin Smith titles) I had never read a whole arc, if we can call it that, from start to finish.  I have read everything within in the Rebirth titles and especially enjoyed The Flash titles, Titans, Aquaman and Green Arrow.

This had bled out a little and I am now reading the Darkest Night titles, a Nightwing title and Cyborg because there is just something about Cyborg that I like. I have also finished reading Killing Joke because of the movie being release in August.

On the video side of things I have watched the following:

  • The first season of Young Justice
  • Half way through the Justice League Unlimited
  • Working my way through the Batman: Brave and the Bold and Green Lantern the animated series
  • Green Lantern: First Flight (animated movie)
  • Green Lantern: Emerald Nights (animated movie)
  • Wonder Woman (animated movie)
  • Batman: Under the Red Hood (animated movie)
  • Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (animated movie)
  • Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox (animated movie)
  • Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (animated movie)
  • JLA: Trapped in Time (animated movie)
  • Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (animated movie)
  • Superman/Shazam: The Return of Black Adam (animated movie)

I also started to watch The Dark Night Returns (animated movie) last night but my internet dropped and I couldn’t get it back so I am hoping to finish watching it tonight. As you can see I have not watched any live action but I do own all of Chris Nolan movies and I am planning on buying a digital version of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice tonight.

Kinda appropriate, hey

Badger Sense Is Tingling

For a proclaimed DC girl I seem to write more about Marvel then I do anything regarding Batman, Superman and any other characters from the DCU and here’s another one.

I went and saw Captain America: Civil War over the weekend. This is not a review post which will be happening on my review blog.

I went to see this movie with my niece and my mother who was admittedly a ring in because my BF pulled out the morning of and I had already booked the tickets. This is this third time my BF has done this to me. I first offered the tix to both my brothers but they both had commitments.

On the way home my niece, who is 14 turning 15, asked us who we liked best. My mother said Iron Man because she likes Robert Downey Jr. I, on the other hand, could not answer the question. I do like Robert Downey Jr as well and I have nothing against any of the actors playing the characters and that is the rub. I am rather ambivalent to the MCU.

I will give a bit of an example I was watching the first episode of the new season of Game of Thrones with my BF and this is going to be a bit of spoiler if you watch Game of Thrones and haven’t seen the first ep. At one point in the episode Sansa and Theon are escaping from Ramsay Bolton and Winterfell and come across an abandoned hut. Riders from Winterfell catch up and Theon tries to tell them that Sansa is not with him and had died along the way. The riders don’t believe Theon and attack and find Sansa when Brienne of Tarth and Podrick arrive and battle the riders. When Brienne showed up I got really excited despite the fact that I kind of knew that she would.

The point being is that I have never once gotten excited for a Marvel movie, well maybe a little for the Avengers, and I have never felt any great like for any of the characters as well, like I do for Batman, Flash, Supergirl, Wonder Woman and strangely Cyborg. Sure I enjoy them as a whole but I don’t get emotional about the relationship of Cap and Bucky like some fans do. I didn’t go crazy with the first sighting of Spiderman in the trailer.

Speaking of Spider-Man I thought that I would try to elaborate on my dislike of the character. I really don’t know why I don’t like him. I never read the comics and we never really got the cartoons here and if we did I never watched them, well I don’t recall watching them. I do remember watching the X-Men cartoons however. I just think that getting bit by a radio-active spider at a science exhibit is a little stupid. I never watched the Toby McGuire movies and only saw the end of the first Andrew Garfield one. I have since tried to watch one of the cartoon series and couldn’t get through the first episode but then I don’t really think much of the Marvel cartoons except maybe the X-Men ones which I really like.

Despite my issues with him I will say that I did enjoy him in this movie, maybe because they actually got an actor close to the characters actual age and his interaction with Iron Man was really good.

Super Badger

I have threatened in my previous posts that I will do a post on DC and my preferences to the characters from these comics opposed to those in Marvel. Today is that day I believe and this week I have the rare opportunity to be able to watch Arrow and the Flash TV shows live instead of waiting for the iTunes availability that usually comes on the Friday after the airing (The Flash airs on Wednesday and Arrow on Thursday here) but sometimes it can take up to the Sunday.

The reason I have this mighty ability this week is because of the fact that my stepfather is away and thus does not have control of the remote control. My sister has no care of what I watch in the evening and I am not going to care what my BF wants. Hell I might even be able to watch Supernatural live tonight instead of tomorrow when it appears on the station stream tomorrow. That will all depend on other factors like me being able to get a good version of Once Upon A Time (unfortunately I have to torrent this one as the station that has the rights to this show are not treating it’s Aussie fans well and has not even aired the 4th season of the show) and what time my BF will be getting home tonight as he is going to visit his brother after work.

Well back to DC and why there characters are more preferable to me than Marvel. To be honest I am really not sure why. I guess I feel more invested in the DC characters than the Marvel ones. I like the X-Men characters very much and I grew up watching X-Men cartoons and my brother used to read X-Men comics. I only really saw the Batman 1960’s TV and the movies from the 80’s and 90’s and Superman from the 80’s. I loved the early X-Men movies as well. It has only been in the last 5 to 10 years that I have really come to appreciate and love DC and in particular Batman and think that is partially because of Kevin Smith.

His love of Batman got me interested in Batman and the character somehow resonates with me. I just think that he is believable and that he could really be a real person unlike other Superheroes that we see. The same goes for Green Arrow in a sense. I think it is the morality of the DC heroes that I appreciate as I think in someone ways Marvel Heroes are a little more selfish. I am probably one of the few that absolutely can’t stand Spiderman and don’t actually see the appeal or the fuss that is made about the character.

I am not the biggest of Superman fans and I never watched Smallville (though my BF did and he wants me to watch it) but I did watch Lois and Clark (Dean Cain was/is hot!!). I am, however, enjoying the Supergirl show, another show I have to torrent because it is not available here yet and I probably won’t be able to watch live though I will buy it on iTunes if it becomes available. I really don’t get the hate levelled at Aquaman as I think he has more going for him in terms of powers than some others do and his Marvel equivalent is probably Thor and he doesn’t get the hate. I also loved the Justice League cartoon movie Throne of Atlantis and Jason Momoa looks awesome as Aquaman in the upcoming movie/s.

I haven’t seen all that much of him other than a couple of the DC cartoon movies released but I am really liking Cyborg as well, yes I know he is in Teen Titans but I haven’t seen a lot of that yet as it has not become available on iTunes, DVD or any of the streaming services, but his character in the movies is very good. I am also gaining a great liking to Wonder Woman as well and not just because she is a female superhero. I also like the Greek mythos behind her because I am part Greek myself and Greek myths has always interested me (Percy Jackson, anyone).

I think that I will it at that for now but I reserve the right to revisit and talk more of my love of Batman in particular and also DC villains and in particular Joker and Harley Quinn.
